You last cut it when????
1987. That's when the yard was last cut that I quoted today. I just quoted a cleanup. Not a big yard, not a front and backyard. Just a yard 20 feet by 30 feet. With my Kubota under normal conditions(like if it had been mowed in the past month), it would take me 5 minutes. I suspect it to take an hour to 2. I walked through the yard...back and forth dragging my feet trying to discover anything in the grass that would hurt the mower. I tripped over logs, sticks, and even a bumper off of an old Ford truck. The owner and I piled the sticks up to burn and he put the bumper in a clean spot over the fence where it can be lost again for 20 years. I asked him why it had been so long since they cut it and he said they've been living in Holly Beach since 1987 and haven't been to this house since then. Not once. They had relatives living here and they assumed that it was being taken care of.
Let's not even start on what is in the front yard...it's like one long redneck joke.

Lawn Care
I've had my own lawn care business for 2 years now and for some reason, this year, it's really taking off. I'm getting calls from people I've never contacted and I'm even having people stop and talk to me when I'm mowing a yard or just filling up at a gas station(the trailer with the mowers on it is kind of a giveaway). We're putting out more flyers this and next week as well, so I hope(almost expect) to max out with what I can do by May if not sooner. Call me weird, but I really do like doing hard physical work. The boys scramble to be the first out the door to go with me when I go to mow as well. It's really a joy to stop and see the both of them working in a yard with me.
Just makes me smile.

My nickname
Everyone knows people with nicknames, some of them normal, some a little strange. Well, in my neighborhood I've been stamped with a good nickname. It's a little long(It would be easier to say only my name) but it brings a smile to my face every time I hear it. In my neighborhood, I'm no longer James, I'm referred to as "the guy with all the kids".

Wow! What a voice!
We just got back from the Alison Krauss and Union Station concert. I'm speechless...okay, not really, it's just that I'm so impressed by their performance and have so much to say about it that I don't know where to start. This was their last performance for they don't know how long. She said they are going to take a long break now.
Let's just say her music really moved us...

Vacation?
Candice and the kids went to see my sister in law 2 Tuesdays ago.
Day 1, John James got sick.
Day 2, stayed at same hotel with sick child.
Day 3, went to new hotel in same town so as not to infect sister-in-laws children. Sister in law had to take one of her children in because of a severely busted mouth.
Day 4, arrived at sister in law's house, one of her children gets sick(got it from hospital).
The remainder of the trip was better, but John James got sick again on the way back home. I laughed...this trip cost quite a bit and she wished she was home the whole time.
